Opening
The Oral History Committee of the Caldwell Public Library presents the second slide/tape show in its irrigation series, "The Romance of Water: The Lake Lowell Story."
This exhibit is, briefly, the early history of Lake Lowell, otherwise known as Deer Flat Reservoir as well as the subsequent irrigation that sprang from this resource.
Many men and women labored in this huge endeavor. We remember them as pioneers who envisioned the many acres of fertile land in Canyon County covered with crops (see Row Irrigation for an image of their dream).
They knew irrigation water was needed to claim lands that had been sage covered for centuries.
