A photograph of North 5th Ave taken from Chicago st. looking North on 5th in 1954. North 5th Ave was opened through to North Illinois St around 1938 and was given an oil cap in the early spring of 1942, just before oil use was frozen by the war. Fifth Avenue became the main North side street in the town.
