Middleton
During this time, other ditches and canals along the Boise River were taking shape. The Middleton Mill Ditch was started above Star in 1864.
By 1871 it provided power for the Middleton Flour Mill as there was now sufficient grain to support a mill.
As it was a three-day trip to Boise City for supplies, Middleton (midway between Boise City and the Sanke River crossing at Fort Boise) soon became the nearest trade center.
On the north side of the river, the Andrews canal was started to serve the Lower Boise area.
